ABCD's History
In 1993, the Advocates for Better Children's Diets (ABCD) began as a coalition of 37 leading health and consumer organizations, organized to improve the nutrition quality of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program in thousands of schools nationwide. A steering committee of six participating groups directed the major activities of the coalition. Several of the steering committee members suggested forming a non-profit groups to expand the activities designed to improve the dietary and physical activity habits of children. We received the official non-profit status in June 1997.
